Well, howdy folks, Fred Talley here from Faith Pest Control, comin’ to you from right here in North Georgia. Now, I love this area, love the mountains, love the fresh air. But there’s one thing that’s been flappin’ around a little too close for comfort for some of our good residents in Jasper, and that’s bats!
Now, before you go gettin’ your feathers ruffled, let me say this: bats are fascinating creatures. They do a world of good eatin’ up all sorts of pesky insects, especially those mosquitoes that just love to feast on us. But just like anything, there’s a time and a place, and for a bat, inside your attic or in the eaves of your home, that ain’t it!
Here at Faith Pest Control, we’ve been gettin’ more than a few calls lately from folks in Jasper who are dealin’ with these nocturnal nuisances. And let me tell you, when you’ve got bats, you’ve got problems.
First off, there’s the noise. Imagine tryin’ to get a good night’s sleep with a whole colony of bats squeakin’ and scratchin’ above your head. It’s enough to drive a saint batty!
Then there’s the guano. That’s bat droppin’s for those of you not in the know. And let me tell you, it’s not just a little mess. Bat guano can pile up, and it’s not only nasty, but it carries a real health risk. It can contain fungal spores that, when inhaled, can cause a serious respiratory disease called histoplasmosis. You definitely don’t want that in your home, especially if you’ve got kids or folks with weaker immune systems.
And don’t forget the smell. Bat guano and urine can create a pretty potent odor that’ll permeate your home, makin’ it less than pleasant to be in. Nobody wants their house smellin’ like a cave, do they?
Another thing to consider is the potential for other pests. Bat colonies can attract all sorts of other critters like bat bugs, which are cousins to bed bugs and just as unwelcome.
Now, I know what some of y’all might be thinkin’: “Can’t I just shoo ’em away myself?” And while I appreciate the can-do spirit, bat exclusion is a tricky business. These little guys can squeeze through incredibly small openings – we’re talkin’ as little as half an inch! Plus, you’ve got to be real careful not to trap them inside, especially during maternity season (typically late spring to early summer) when the young, non-flying pups are dependent on their mothers. Trapping them means they’ll either die inside your home, creatin’ an even bigger stink, or the mothers will be desperate to get back to their young, potentially findin’ new ways in.
That’s where Faith Pest Control comes in. We’ve got the expertise and the right tools to safely and humanely remove bats from your home. We’ll start with a thorough inspection to identify all the entry and exit points. Then, we’ll implement what we call “exclusion” – sealin’ up all those tiny cracks and crevices, leaving only a few one-way exits. This allows the bats to leave for their nightly hunt but prevents them from getting back in. Once we’re sure they’re all out, we’ll seal up those last few spots.
And don’t worry, we’re not just about gettin’ rid of them. We’ll also help you with the cleanup and decontamination of any guano to make sure your home is safe and healthy again.
So, if you’re a Jasper resident and you’re hearin’ little wings flappin’ where they shouldn’t be, don’t hesitate to give Faith Pest Control a call. We’ll bring our faith in good, honest work and our expertise to make sure your home is bat-free and comfortable once again. You can reach us right here in North Georgia, and we’ll be happy to come out and give you a free estimate. Let’s get those bats out of your belfry, and back to where they belong – out in nature, far away from your home!
